【日常英会話】学校英語と生の英語の違い
確かに通常業務ではなく、一般会話でよく聞きます。
特に以下の表現は推測しにくいので、とりあえず覚えるしかないですね。
- What's up? → Sup? (発音がよく似てる)
- He said, "OK." → He went, "OK" (go = say)
- It's very cheap. → It's a steal. (steal = ほぼ無料という意味がある)
- You're welcome. → You bet. (あなたがお金を賭けてもいいくらい確実だよ)
- This is a lot better. → This is way better.
逆に以下は、推測しやすいので覚えやすいです。
- Certainly → For sure!
- Relax! → Chill!
- Thank you. → Appreciate it.
- I don't like it. → Not a huge fan of it.
- He or she can do it. → They can do it.
- The party was wonderful. → The party was phenomenal.
- I understand how you feel. I feel ya. (ya = you)
